The Colors of Fall Road Trip Guide (The Countryman Press, Jerry and Marcy Monkman, $16.95) has just been published and is a good one-stop guide to 25 of the most scenic drives for leaf peepers throughout New England.
The routes include New Hampshire’s White Mountains, Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, Massachusetts’ Berkshires and Pioneer Valleys, the Connecticut Highlands, Maine’s Acadia National park, Rangeley Lake and Kenneb ec Valley and Moosehead Lake regions, Rhode Island’s beaches and mansions and more.
For each drive there’s a detailed route map, start and finish points and highlights along the way complete with GPS coordinates including numerous “leg stretchers” where peepers can take walking side trips. There are directions on how to get to the start of each drive, the distance, time and best times to go as well as services you’ll find along the way and any fees for park entrances. And best of all there are color photos galore of the area resplendent in its fall glory.
