MACHIASPORT – Grace Emeline Wood died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, in Machias. She was born in Machiasport, daughter of the late George and Eliza (Sprague) Wood. Grace attended Machiasport schools. She was married to Ralph L. Wood for 77 years until his death in 2007. Mrs. Wood worked for many years as a packer in the sardine industry. She and her husband also owned and operated Wood Grocery Store, Machiasport. She was a longtime member of Larabee Baptist Church. She was predeceased by two brothers, Donald and Ronald Wood; one sister, Gertrude Lovejoy; one daughter, Erna Davis and her husband, Charlie; and a son-in-law, Lowell Richardson. She is survived by two sons, Gerald Wood and wife, Judy, and Dale Wood and wife, Beverly; two daughters, Beverly Richardson of Machiasport and June Kennedy and husband, Carroll, of Gray; a brother, Carlton Wood of Machias; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at Trafton Cemetery, Machiasport, with the Rev. William Holmes officiating.
