BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police say their Facebook page has helped them catch a woman believed to be responsible for a hit-and-run accident nearly a month ago.
Officer Jason Stuart was asked to investigate an accident that occurred in the parking lot of Wal-Mart on Stillwater Avenue on Aug. 27.
Police used security images provided by Wal-Mart to capture a picture of the female subject. That photo was linked to the department’s Facebook page, which has more than 3,700 followers.
After receiving several tips and phone calls, Stuart tracked Melissa Newbury-Small, 40, of Brewer, and charged her with leaving the scene of an accident and operating after suspension, both Class E misdemeanors.
