GREENBUSH – Geraldine “Jean” Edna Rollins, 87, passed away peacefully Sept. 24, 2010, with her family by her side at her home. She was born Nov. 26, 1922, the daughter of Harry H. and Blanche (Smart) Twitchell. Jean grew up in Greenbush and graduated from Old Town High School in 1942. She served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946, and was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal. Jean was a collector of many things. She especially loved to collect anything to do with nature and the outdoors. She loved cats, dogs and birds, and enjoyed many hours watching birds out of her windows. Aunt Jean was everyone’s favorite aunt. Jean is survived by her three sisters, Rita Willis of Happy Jack, Ariz., Mary Flatt of Omaha, Ga., and Joan Johnston of Orono; her special niece, Rosemary Twitchell; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, James “Chuck” V. Rollins; her sister, Winifred Twitchell; and her two brothers, Walter F. Twitchell and Edwin W. Twitchell. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to Hospice of Eastern Maine and Columbus Hospice, Columbus, Ga., for all the kind and compassionate care they gave to Jean. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at Gould’s Ridge Cemetery, Gould’s Ridge Road, Passadumkeag, with Pastor Jeff Tenney officiating.
