There’s an unusual kind of family drama debuting Tuesday night on ABC. Like most series on TV, “No Ordinary Family,” premiering at 8, starts with a dysfunctional family. In the interest of family bonding, the Powells go on vacation to the Amazon, then come back changed. They all develop superpowers, and the fun of “No Ordinary Family” is watching how they adapt to these changes in their lives. Michael Chiklis (“The Shield”) and Julie Benz (“Dexter”) are enjoyable as parents Jim and Stephanie, who are struggling to keep their relationship alive. Kay Panabaker and Jimmy Bennett are a little too believable as their whiny teen children. Executive producer Greg Berlanti (“Everwood,” “Brothers & Sisters”) is a master of family drama, and he’s made a smart choice here grounding the show in family rather than special effects. However, up against “Glee” and “NCIS,” who’s left to watch it?
