BANGOR – William H. Mahon, 70, husband of Bertha E. (Norris) Mahon, died Sept. 28, 2010, at his home after a valiant, longtime battle with cancer. He was born June 22, 1940, in Island Falls, the son of Francis G. and Winifred E. (Darling) Mahon. Bill was a graduate of Carmel High School and DeVry Institute, Chicago. He worked for Bangor Hydro for 28 years, retiring as a superintendent in 1994. He was a U.S. Army veteran. His time spent with the Carmel Boy Scouts, Troop 18, and his 40-plus years as scout master was truly one of his greatest loves. Surviving, in addition to his wife of Bangor are his children, Susan Gumm, Theresa McLaughlin, Darrin Mahon and William Mahon Jr., Linwood Harriman, Timothy Harriman, Michael Clinch and his wife, Karry, Sheri Harris and her husband, Casey, Samantha Mahon, Douglas and Shawn Harriman, Johnathan and Erika Mahon, Paul, Gary and G. Tracy Cook, Cheryl Sweeney, and Terri Lynn Richards; 38 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; five brothers, David Mahon and his wife, Jane, Robert Mahon and his wife, Sheila, Gregory Mahon and his wife, Donna, Duane Mahon, and James Mahon and his wife, Carolyn; five sisters, Marion Dougherty, Annie Robinson and her husband, Ralph, Regina Ross and her husband, Melvin, Amelia Goyner, and Frances Hatch and her husband, David; many nieces and nephews. Bills family extends a special thank you to the great care given by angels, Beth Perro, Pam Bull and Beth Hentochel, and for the loving support of many extended family and friends. Family and friends may visit 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Church, Ohio Street, Bangor. Burial with military honors will be at Highland Cemetery, Carmel.
