MILLINOCKET – Constance E. Conley, 81, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at Colonial Acres Nursing Home, Lincoln, after a short illness. She was born Aug. 16, 1929, in Millinocket, the daughter of Lee W. and Eunice (Smith) Clowes. Constance was a graduate of Stearns High School, Class of 1946. She was employed in Portland, Burbank, Calif., and Millinocket, having worked for Great Northern Paper Co., Piscataquis Savings Bank, Norstar Bank and Millinocket School Department, as a secretary to the superintendent of schools. She retired in 1982. Constance was a member of First Congregational Church, Millinocket; Onawa Chapter Order of the Eastern Star; and Maine Educational Secretaries Association. She is survived by three daughters, Leanna Grant and her husband, Merle, of Millinocket, Jody Salmen of Prospect and Sherry Burks and friend, Bob Bellfleur, of Millinocket; a son, Michael Conley and friend, Val Reil, of Millinocket; six beloved grandchildren, Lori Shaver and her husband, Jim, of Prospect, Justin Grant and his wife, Jen, of Colorado, Derek Salmen of Colorado, Erin Salmen and her friend, Aaron Lyons, of Prospect, Heather Burks and Ryan Burks, both of Colorado; two stepgrandchildren, Sara Cummings and Amber Glidden; four great-grandchildren, Spencer and Abby Yeo of Prospect, Tyler Salmen of Colorado and Trinity Lyons of Prospect; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Constance was predeceased by her parents. There will be no visiting hours. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Millinocket Cemetery.
