PITTSFIELD – Hildegard E. Sauer, 84, died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at her home. She was born March 11, 1926, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Michael and Martha (Polzin) Frederick. Hildegard enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved being with her family. She and her husband, Walter, celebrated 57 years of marriage. She will be lovingly missed. She is survived by her husband, Walter Sauer of Pittsfield; her daughter, Lisa Sauer and her husband, William Kragness, of Hartland; her sons, Paul Sauer and his wife, Carol, of Birmingham, Ala., and Philip Sauer of Pittsfield; her grandchildren, Paul Sauer Jr. and John Sauer; her sister, Elizabeth Gartman of Ohio; her brother, Michael Frederick and his wife, Helen, of Ohio; and her sister-in-law, Christine Frederick of Kitchener, Ontario. She was predeceased by a brother, William Frederick. The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, where a funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, with the Rev.
