A recent poll shows that 52 percent of Mainers plan to vote Nov. 2 to permit a casino to be built in Oxford County, and 39 percent planning to vote against the casino.

Will this be the year a casino is finally approved in Maine? If so, is this a good development? Will it

help keep Maine dollars in the state, rather than being exported to casinos in Massachusetts and Connecticut? Or would this be a bad development, encouraging people to waste their money? Are people being unduly influenced by the recession, ready

to jump at any new development?
