BELFAST, Maine — A skate park scuffle reported this week has resulted in charges for a couple accused of attacking the park supervisor.

The fight began when Debra Cookson, 23, of Belfast reportedly picked a fight with the skate park supervisor at 6:15 p.m. Monday, according to Police Chief Jeff Trafton.

“They got into a physical confrontation,” Trafton said Thursday. “He finally told her to leave.”

Cookson then allegedly got her boyfriend, 28-year-old Sonny McAuley of Belfast, who came to the park and picked a fight with the supervisor.

“The victim got a big black eye and cuts on his face,” Trafton said.

No one was arrested after the fight, but McAuley was charged with assault, disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing. Cookson was charged with assault and criminal trespassing.

No charges were filed against the park attendant.
