FORT KENT – Bernice (Theriault) Desjardins, 91, died peacefully Oct. 8, 2010, surrounded by her family at a Madawaska health care facility. Bernice was born Aug. 25, 1919, in Wallagrass, the daughter of Ulysses and Caroline (Marin) Theriault. She is now living her fourth day. She was a leader in Cursio for many years in Frenchville. She belonged to the Columbiettes, Ladies of St. Anne and Senior Citizens Club, all of Fort Kent. Bernice loved the outdoors and the serenity of the woods, especially in the Allagash. She is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Edward Desjardins of Madawaska; one daughter, Betty and her husband, Vinton Bard, of Lowell; one son, Lewellyn and his wife, Juliette (Caron) Desjardins, of Fort Kent; two brothers, Lucien and his wife, Marie Theriault, of Fort Kent, and Danford Theriault of Southington, Conn.; two sisters, Lorraine Wilson of Calais and Leonette Pelletier of Eagle Lake; two grandchildren, Phyllis and her husband, Bill Roux, of Plymouth, Conn., and Bonnie and her husband, Bob Hart, of Terryville, Conn.; four great-grandchildren, Vinton and Valerie Hart and Jay and Kelly Roux; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Lizzy Anne, Joseph, Bertha, Caroline, Rudolph, Raymond, Claude, Bernadette, Bernadine, Lionel, Euclide and Guy; also several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Friends may call 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services will be afterward in the parish cemetery.
