ORRINGTON – Kenneth M. “The Cat” Ashe Jr., 71, entered into glory with his loving family by his side Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at his home after a long illness. Ken was born March 14, 1939, in Brewer, the first son of Kenneth and Edith (Porter) Ashe. Ken grew up in South Brewer and attended Brewer schools, where he met and married Dolores Herbest. Ken worked several years at J.J. Nissen, Bangor and Brewer, and for 43 years at Eastern Fine Paper, South Brewer, retiring in 1992. Ken loved fishing, snowmobiling, camping, horse races, his red 1968 Cadillac convertible, and working in his garden and around his home in Orrington. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh. He will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends; his faithful dog, Oreo; and especially one of his best friends, Ray Seeley. Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 55 years, Dolores A. Ashe of Orrington; are a son, Mark K. Ashe and his significant other, Lynn Robertson, of Orrington; a daughter, Patsy L. St. Peter and her significant, other, Rick McMorris, of Orrington; five grandchildren, Brandon M. Ashe of Bangor, Jason A. Ashe of Orrington, Shayna M. Weller and her husband, Ryan, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Kristina L. St. Peter of Gainesville, Fla., and Angelica P. McMorris of Orrington; two great-grandchildren, Faith Trinity Ashe and Gaige Sullivan Ashe of Bangor; four sisters, Estelle Arena of DeSoto, Texas, Beverly White and her husband, Emerson, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Loretta Pomeroy of Corinth and Cindy Kay and her significant other, Greg Heal, of Brewer; many nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Jamie Ashe; a sister, Sharon Ginn; and his precious great-granddaughter, Skyla Ra? Ashe. His family gratefully thanks the staff of New Hope Hospice for their compassionate and gentle care during Ken’s illness. A service honoring Ken’s life will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer, where family and friends may visit 11:30 a.m. until the service begins. Pastor Jerry Mick, senior pastor of Bangor Baptist Church, will preside. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Orrington. Condolences may be offered at www.kileyandfoley.com.
