BANGOR – Virginia Mary Dwyer, 56, went peacefully to be with our Lord, Jesus, Oct. 7, 2010. She was born Sept. 19, 1954, in Houlton, daughter of the late Eben and Mary (Farrar) Dwyer. She graduated high school and went on to graduate from nursing school as a certified nurses aide. Virginia spent her life caring for the sick and elderly, including many years working with hospice. She worked hard and was passionate about what she did. She enjoyed cooking and for a short time owned her own business, Jenny’s Home Cooking. She loved traveling, country music and dancing. Above all, she loved and adored her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by her three children: daughter, Sonya Burke of California and sons, Lucas and Lance Bradford of Bangor; sisters, Lisa Wyrick of Jacksonville, N.C., Jean Olson of Idaho and Sandy Tash of Lincoln; and brothers, Paul Dwyer Sr. of Amity, Virgil Dwyer Sr. of Jacksonville, N.C., Jack Hodshon of Presque Isle and Forrest “Sandy” Grey of Houlton. She was predeceased by one brother, Alvin Wayne Dwyer; two special granddaughters, Victoria and Lauren; son-in-law, Shaun Burke of California; nieces and nephews; and very special dear friends, Earl Sherwood and Michelle Hogan. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Roger Davis, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Brewer, officiating. Interment will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at Peters Cove Cemetery, Orient.
