BAR HARBOR – Carrie E. Morris, 103, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010. She was one of 13 children born in West Tremont to Alonzo and Polly Wentworth. She was married to Raymond P. Morris for 67 years. Carrie worked from the time she was 13 and spent much of her early life helping her family. She later worked for many years in Southwest Harbor for summer people. When Raymond acquired his degree from Husson College, they moved to Stonington, where for 16 years Raymond was a teacher and later became principal of the high school. Carrie was just as involved in the students’ lives, making clothes for them, cutting their hair and accompanying them on their senior class trips to New York and Washington, D.C., and the school yearbook was dedicated to her twice. They retired to Southwest Harbor in 1985, where Carrie enjoyed being a homemaker and getting together with family and friends. She held the Boston Post Cane. Carrie loved God from an early age, practiced his presence her whole life, and lived a good and wholesome life in service to others. In addition to her husband, she is survived by many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Mount Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor.
