AMITY – Mark Howell, 47, died Oct. 22, 2010, due to a tragic accident; we are mourning the loss of our family hero. He was born April 11, 1963, in Concord, Mass., the son of Arthur Jr. and Dorothy (McCarthy) Howell. Mark was an avid hunter, loved to fish for bass and was always tinkering on something. Our hearts are broken and will forever mourn our loss. In addition to his loving parents of Amity, he is survived by his soul mate, Keely (Ritchie) Howell of Amity; and his children, who meant the world to him, Danny Howell of Amity, Janice Howell and her partner, Joshua Ritchie, of Smyrna, and Michaela Calaman of Amity. Mark welcomed his first grandson in July, Parker Ryan Ritchie, who meant the world to him. He also leaves behind his very special siblings, who were so dear to him, Eileen Folkins and her husband, Harmon, of Houlton, Nancy Ledger and her husband, Ronnie, of Amity, Tim Howell and his partner, Barb, of Massachusetts, Debbie Goodall and her husband, Donnie, of Oakfield, and Dan Howell and his wife, Kristy, of Ludlow; and his in-laws, Phil and Julie Ritchie of Smyrna. He was predeceased by his son, Michael Calaman, who crossed over in 2009. Mark will be missed by his family and friends, especially for his huge hugs and smiles that you could always count on. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Dave Raymond, celebrant. A time of fellowship will be immediately after the service.
