BANGOR and HERMON – Albert L. Dunifer, a strong, moral man, larger than life to those who knew and loved him, died unexpectedly Oct. 26, 2010, at a Bangor hospital, just two days after celebrating his 70th birthday. He now joins his adoptive parents, Walter E. Sr. and Flora Dunifer. He attended Hermon High School, Class of 1959, where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Gail Partridge, with whom he spent 47 years. A mechanic and truck driver by profession, family handyman and jack of all trades, he continued working on vehicles well into retirement. A loving father, he was often known to give a helping hand to anyone who asked. Albert loved hunting, fishing and playing guitar, and especially good coffee and doughnuts. He will be remembered by his loving wife, Gail (Partridge) Dunifer; his birth mother, Alice L. White, both of Bangor; his sons, Jeffrey Dunifer of Levant and Jason Dunifer of Bangor; his daughter, Julie Dunifer of Bangor; his youngest son, Justin Dunifer, also of Bangor; and four grandchildren, Tyler, Stacey, Steven and Aurora. Also close to his heart and just as much part of his family: Jeffrey’s wife, Kelly Dunifer of Bangor; Sarah MacKinnon of Old Town; Jeremy Stearns of Bangor; Michelle Cushman of Levant; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Walter E. Dunifer Jr. and his wife, Eleanor, of Bangor; and sister, Pauline Sylvester of Limmington. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, with the Rev. Garnett Chute, pastor of Hermon Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Snows Corner Cemetery, Hermon. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
