PRESQUE ISLE – Gayle S. Lynch, 75, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Oct. 30, 2010, at a Presque Isle health care facility. She was born Jan. 4, 1935, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Ford) Simpson. Gayle was loved by all who knew her and was considered a “social butterfly” by many. Her family was everything to her and her grandchildren were the center of her world – she always put them first. Gayle was a devout Catholic and member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle; Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Carmel, Ind.; and St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church in California. She loved to sing and was a member of the church choirs. She was an avid reader, wonderful cook and loved to knit for her family. She completed her nursing degree at Northern Maine Community College, practiced at The Aroostook Medical Center and did private duty nursing in Greenville, S.C. Gayle was loved by coworkers as she often worked holidays so others could be home with their young children. She is survived by her six children: daughter, Susie and her husband, Tom Fourt, of Newbury Park, Calif., and their sons, Connor and Hunter; son, Gene Lynch II and his wife, Pam, of Mapleton and their sons, Nicholas, Christopher and Benji; son, Scott Lynch and his wife, Maggie, of Gray and their children, Justin, Scott Jr. and Jennah; son, Dan Lynch and his wife, Lisa, of Saco and their children, Courtney and Sean; son, Stephen Lynch of Orrington and his children, Alyssa and Jared; and daughter, Diana and her husband, Scott Story, of Monroe and their children, Kelsi and Kyle. The family expresses their sincere gratitude for the loving care the staff at Presque Isle Nursing Home provided, with special thanks to Dr. David Jones, Becky Sharpe and Ruth Collins. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood with the Rev. Raymond Morency, celebrant. Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of the Mass Tuesday at the church. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, P.O. Box 813, Presque Isle, ME 04769 or Alzheimer’s Association of Maine, 170 U.S. Route 1, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105. Online condolences may be expressed at www.duncan-graves.com.
