LINCOLN – Helen Viola Dobson, 93, died peacefully Oct. 31, 2010, surrounded by her family at her home. She was born July 24, 1917, at home in South Lincoln, the daughter of Llewellyn and June (Whittier) Brown. Helen graduated from Mattanawcook Academy, Class of 1936. She spent much of her life as a homemaker, wife and mother. She loved her job as a Howland Head Start teacher. Helen volunteered at Silver Spoons for many years, was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lincoln and Caring, Sharing Support Group. She will be sadly missed by those many people whose lives she touched with her loving, thoughtful ways and sense of humor. Her home was a gathering place for the family, full of love, laughs and homemade molasses cookies. She is survived by her son, Daniel Reed Sr. and wife, Teresa, of Burlington; daughters, Della Day and husband, Edgar Sheldon, of Clearwater, Fla., Dianne Olsen of Milford and Faye McCormick and husband, Webster, of Lincoln; stepson, Charles Dobson Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Burlington; stepdaughters, Beverly Harding and husband, Donnie, of Burlington, Gloria Honnell and husband, Bob, of Greenbush and Donna Davis and husband, Billy, of Michigan; grandchildren, Douglas Day, Kathy Civiello, Sherri Day-Ceinski, Daniel Reed Jr., Floyd Reed III, Ann-Marie Stenzel, Aaron Plourde, Andrew McCormick and Sara McCormick; many great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandsons. She was predeceased by her husband and father of her children, Floyd Reed Jr., in 1969; and husband, Charles Dobson Sr., in 1995; and son-in-law, Roger Olsen. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2 at First United Methodist Church of Lincoln with a light luncheon afterward.
