HOULTON – Lawrence E. Watson, 87, entered glory Nov. 1, 2010. He was born July 2, 1923, in Littleton, the son of Ellery and Muriel (Nason) Watson. Lawrence attended Littleton schools and was a graduate of Ricker Classical Institute. He served as a radio mechanic in the Army Air Corp during World War II, serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe, earning several decorations and citations. After the war he came home to become the third generation artesian well driller, and for 37 years was the owner/operator of Watson Well Drilling until retiring in 1982. Lawrence was an avid fisherman and enjoyed times with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Julia (Brooker) Watson; his children, Jeanne Rose, James L. and Rondise Watson, Oral and Heidi Watson; six grandchildren, LaDericka and Arthur Sewell, Lezley and Brian Sturtevant, Amber and Derek Hines, James D. and Erin Watson, Lindsey Longstaff and Kathryn Watson; 13 great-grandchildren; his beloved sister, Ruth Williams; many cherished nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his dear sister, Iola Kneelnad. Friends may call 11 a.m. until the time of service 1 p.m. Thursday at Dunn Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating.
