BAR HARBOR – A. George Clemens Jr., 63, died Nov. 3, 2010, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. He was born April 24, 1947, in Pottstown, Pa., the son of Abram George and Katherine Rose (Schalvett) Clemens. George served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1967, and served in Iceland and Germany. In 1970 he entered the Naval Reserve. He owned and operated Town Hill Country Store from 1981 to 1986, and in 1986 he purchased and created The Collier House Bed and Breakfast, Town Hill. George also worked for Bar Harbor Fire Department. He was very active for 30 years in the Town Hill Village Improvement Society, where he served as vice president. He was instrumental in restoring the old Town Hill Federated Church, now First Light Assembly of God. George is survived by his wife of 37 years, Charlene (Bauman) Clemens; his daughter, Tennille Clemens and her significant other, Sebastian Moore, all of Bar Harbor; and one brother-in-law, Charles L. Bauman Jr. and wife, Holly, of Baumstown, Pa. Friends are invited to call 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday with Richard Miziaszek officiating.
