HOWLAND – Darlene F. Wallace, 58, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Nov. 10, 2010, at Cummings Healthcare with her family by her side, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 5, 1952, in Lincoln, daughter of William and Phidelma (Batchelder) Wallace. Darlene was a 1972 graduate of Penobscot Valley High School. She was an active member of Howland Baptist Church, serving on the communion committee. She was also a nursery worker, choir member, Sunday school teacher and Awana worker. She was a die-hard fan of Jeff Gordon, the Boston Red Sox and the University of Maine Men’s Hockey team. Darlene worked numerous years as a certified nurse’s aide at local nursing homes, as well as a librarian for the town of Howland. She is survived by her mother, Phidelma Wallace; brother, Scott Wallace and his wife, Terry, of Howland; her sister, Susan Sides and her husband, Dale, of Levant; two special nephews, Darin Wallace and his wife, Jessica, and Nathan Wallace; a very special niece, Elise Sides; a great-niece, Ciyera Wallace; and a great-nephew, Logan Wallace. She was predeceased by her father. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Howland Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Porter officiating. Interment will be at Edinburg Cemetery.
