BANGOR – Rene Joseph Secord, 25, left this earth unexpectedly Nov. 16, 2010, to be with his beloved younger brother, “JJ.” He was born June 26, 1985, in Bangor, son of Paul and April (Barton) Secord. Rene will be sadly missed by all his friends who meant so much to him and his loving family. Rene was a graduate of Bangor High School and a proud member of the Rams football team in high school. He was involved in Scouting most of his life. He advanced through the ranks from Tiger Cubs all the way to Eagle Scout. Rene also attended University of Maine in recent years. Rene was an avid sports fan as long as the team was the Yankees. He also loved fishing with his friends, working on cars, or just watching a good game with friends. He brought great joy to his family with all the trips they took together. He enjoyed camping and going to theme parks. He especially enjoyed riding the coasters with his co-pilot and brother, Tyler. He will also be missed by his brother, Devin, who looked up to him as his big brother and car buddy. Rene was the oldest of his three brothers and looked after them all. His parents are very proud of all he has accomplished in his short life and will treasure their last moments with him. Rene has joined his baby brother, Jaron, in God’s arms and both are looking down upon us from on high. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers, Tyler and Devin of Bangor; maternal grandmother, Laurie Barton; paternal grandfather, Theodore Secord of Westbrook; three aunts, Susan “Count” Jones, Sharon Ross, Joanne Blackmore, and their families; three uncles, great-uncle, Norm Gilbert, Doug “Sonny” Barton and James Barton, and their families; and many cousins. He leaves two very special friends: his cat, JJ; and his family dog, Turbo. He was predeceased by his little brother, Jaron “JJ” Joel Secord; maternal grandfather, Douglas “Granka” Barton; paternal grandmother, Sylvia “Meme” Secord; and a special great-grandmother, Alexandra “Babe” Gilbert of Whitefield. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service in the church hall.
