TARPON SPRINGS, Fla., and BROOKLIN – Gordon C. Smith, 86, died Nov. 13, 2010, in Sarasota, Fla. He was a graduate of Brooklin High School and worked as a carpenter/builder. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Army and was a recipient of the Silver Star, Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Norma Smith of Sarasota, Fla.; one brother, Russell Smith and his wife, Madeline, of Brooklin; two stepdaughters, Karen Snow of Sarasota, Fla., and Joyce Miller of Hampden; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Steele of Bradenton, Fla., Michelle Snow of Raymond, N.H., Trevor Snow of Stetson, Tiffany Bishop of Jacksonville, N.C., and Daria Hayward of Londonderry, N.H.; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Bessie Smith of Brooklin; six brothers, one sister; and one great-grandchild, Teri Steele of Bradenton, Fla. At his request, there will be no services.
