DOVER-FOXCROFT and GUILFORD – Pearl E. Coffin, 95, wife of the late Eugene Coffin, died Nov. 28, 2010, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born Aug. 24, 1915, in Wirral, New Brunswick, the daughter of John and Vestina (Perkins) Hoyt. They moved to Mapleton when Pearl was about 8 years old. She was valedictorian of her high school class and graduated in 1937 from Colby College, Waterville, where she majored in English. Pearl and Eugene Coffin were married Christmas Day 1937, and she became a U.S. citizen in 1940. They moved to Dover-Foxcroft in 1951 and became members of United Baptist Church. After Gene’s retirement, they spent time in Florida visiting relatives. Pearl was predeceased by both parents; her sister, Elva Genevicz; her brother, Milton Hoyt; her beloved husband of 69 years, Eugene; her sisters-in-law, Betty Hoyt and Jackie Hoyt; her brothers-in-law, Lud Genevicz and Vern Carvell; and her son-in-law, Charles Gesner Jr. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and David Gove, N. Jean and Rudy Kury; her daughter, Donna Gesner; and her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Jeanne Coffin; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Carvell; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be remembered by a special friend, Gisela Hanson of Ontario. A memorial service at United Baptist Church, Dover-Foxcroft, will be announced at a later date.
