MADAWASKA – Carrie M. Dechaine, 35, passed away Dec. 4, 2010, surrounded by her loving family at her home, after a courageous battle with leukemia. She was born July 31, 1975, in Fort Kent, the daughter of Jean Paul Michaud and Joan Carrier. After high school Carrie went to St. Petersburg Junior College in Florida for respiratory therapy. She then worked at Houlton Regional Hospital, Eastern Maine Medical Center, Northern Maine Medical Center, High View Manor as a certified medical assitant, and substituted at Madawaska schools. Carrie always looked at life with a positive attitude, had a sense of adventure and had an exceptional heart of gold. She was one huggy angel! She helped anyone and gave much of herself. Her laughter and smile were contagious, as was the twinkle in her eyes that expressed it all. Her family was a priority 100 percent of the time. Family game playing nights, along with projects with her sons was an ongoing and fun time ritual. She also loved painting canvases, playing cards, the beach, traveling, farming on Facebook, playing mini-golf and Wii, and watching movies. She had a collection of unicorns, dolphins, snow globes, Mickey Mouse and Chip n’ Dale. No words can express the special woman that she was! We will miss her forever! She is survived by her beloved husband, Michael V. Dechaine; and her two sons, Eddie and Austin of Madawaska; her dad, Jean Paul Michaud and her mom, Joan Carrier, both of Madawaska; a brother, Mathew and his wife, Tracy, of Jay; a sister-in-law, Jennifer and her husband, Kevin Goodrich, of Waterville; two nieces, Mackenzie and Makayla; a nephew, Lucas; caring parent-in-laws, Butch and Micheline Dechaine of Madawaska; uncles and aunts, Robert Carrier of California, Richard and Joanne of Fort Kent, Richard and Theresa, James and Lillian of Massachusetts, Bernard of New Hampshire and Lorraine of Caribou. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at Lajoie Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carrie’s memory may be made to the Edgar J.
