PRESQUE ISLE – Gary D. Grivois, 56, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 1, 2010, at home. He was born Nov. 11, 1954, in Presque Isle, son of Joseph O’Neil and Marie Albertine (Cyr) Grivois. He was a 1974 graduate of Presque Isle High School and 1976 graduate of Northeast Technical Institute, Boston. Gary worked at WAGM-TV for 27 years, starting part-time behind the scenes operating camera on Potato Pickers Special morning show, then full-time, directing news and as a master control operator. Gary will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor and gentle demeanor. He loved being with his family and friends, tending his garden, having an occasional game of golf and watching his favorite New England sports teams. Gary will be sadly missed by his surviving family: six sisters, Verna O’Connell of Winterport, Jean Crotto and her husband, Francis, of Palm Coast, Fla., Nita Therriault, Joan Grivois, both of Presque Isle, Sharon Swiek of Winthrop and Tina Grivois of Winterport; a brother, Nelson Grivois of Stafford Springs, Conn.; five nieces, Tammy Jumah and husband, Ahmad, of Ammen, Jordan, Karen Dennison of Fresno, Calif., Jennifer Grivois and Stacy Grivois, both of Southington, Conn., and Sara Swiek of South Portland; three nephews, Jeffrey Crotto of St. Augustine, Fla., Jason Crotto of Weehawken, N.J., and Abram Grivois of Gorham; several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph O’Neil Grivois; mother, Marie Albertine (Cyr) Grivois; infant sister, Kay Frances Grivois; and brothers-in-law, Gerald “Jeb” Therriault and Stanley Swiek. Friends and family may visit 9:30-10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 6 Roberts St., Presque Isle, where a funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held 10 a.m. with Father Raymond Morency, presiding. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, weather permitting, with a reception after for family and friends at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
