PALMYRA and HARTLAND – Mary Ellen Russell, 78, passed away Dec. 14, 2010, surrounded by her family at a Bangor hospital. She was born March 2, 1932, in Guilford, a daughter of Riley and Adeila (Parker) Stilson. She was employed as a hairdresser in earlier years; worked as an activity director at Sebasticook Valley Health Care Facility, Pittsfield; and later enjoyed volunteering as an alcoholics anonymous counselor. She enjoyed time spent in Deer Isle with her family and friends. Mary Ellen is survived by her three children, Barry and wife, Diana Russell, of Hartland, Kelli and husband, Brent Frost, of Pittsfield, and Charles “Jeff” Russell of Etna; her grandchildren, Brady and wife, Angie Brooks, of Kentucky, Darrin and wife, Kathy Dyer, of Palmyra, Deanna and husband, Mitchell Harris, of Blaine, and Sarah and Domenick Frost, both of Pittsfield; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Kevin, Ashley and Adrienne; a foster sister, Noreen Catlin of Palmyra; as well as special friends, Elaine Vigue and Jane Palmer; and her constant companion and loving pet “Murphy.” She was predeceased by her husband, Charles M. Russell. Friends may call 4-5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, where a celebration of her life will begin 5 p.m. with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating.
