OLD TOWN – Lieselotte H. O’Meara, 90, passed away Dec. 16, 2010, at her home, after a brief illness. Lieselotte was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Danzig, Poland. Lieselotte’s life was filled with many experiences and adventures. She and her family defected to Germany after the Russian take-over of Poland. Lieselotte became a nurse in Germany during World War II and worked in an American occupied hospital in Bayreath, Germany. It was there she met her lifelong friend and husband, David O’Meara. They moved to America after David’s discharge from the U.S. Army. After several moves they located to Old Town in the mid-1950s. Lieselotte was predeceased by her husband, David; and son, Michael. She is survived by her son, Peter O’Meara and his companion, Karla Bailey, of Athens; a grandson, Thomas O’Meara and his wife, Alisha, of Old Town; two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews in Germany.
