SCARBOROUGH – Franklin L. Emery, 59, formerly of Orono, passed away Dec. 17, 2010, at Gosnell House, Scarborough, the neighborhood of his childhood. Frank succumbed to cancer after a four and a half year courageous battle. He was born Dec. 16, 1951. He was a 1970 graduate of Scarborough High School and was grand marshall for his class. Frank went on to attend the University of Maine, Orono, and was a 1979 graduate with a bachelor’s degree. Frank obtained his CPA designation, worked in the Bangor area as a CPA for 23 years. Frank made a career change later in life and worked at the University of Maine, attending most of the university athletic programs and enjoying campus life. Frank was a longtime member of Theta Chi fraternity, with involvement throughout his college career and professional career, having key roles within the fraternity. Frank’s fraternity brothers were close to him with many visits and calls during his illness. Frank was predeceased by his father, Donald L. Emery. His survivors are his mother, Sonia W. Emery of Scarborough; sister, Tris Tirol of Dunedin, Fla.; his brother, James Emery and his wife, Gayle, and their son, Seth Thomas Emery, all of Scarborough; his brother, Raymond and his wife, Marie, of Durham; and his sister, Patricia, of Scarborough, who provided medical advice and assistance through Frank’s multiple bouts of cancer.
