BUCKSPORT and WISCASSET – Maynard L. Leeman, 89, died unexpectedly Dec. 13, 2010, in California. He was born July 6, 1921, in Millinocket, son of Vernon W. and Eva V. (Pray) Leeman. Maynard married Lena Marie Buckingham, Oct. 5, 1940, and a year later moved to Bucksport. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 93, Bucksport, and a 55-year member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Maynard worked at St. Regis Paper Mill for about 15 years. Leeman said he wanted to be his own boss and to work outside. So for the next 20 years, until about 1970, Maynard with his wife, Lena, farmed dairy, poultry and sheep at their home in Bucksport. He is survived by his children, Ellen Clement of Augusta, Ronald Leeman and his wife, Sharon, of Wiscasset and Paul Leeman and his wife, Grace, of Montague, Calif.; a sister, Verna Hardison of Waltham; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Maynard was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 68 years, Lena (Buckingham) Leeman; son-in-law, Edmund Clement, two sisters, Frances and Inez; and two brothers, Ernest and Earl. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Visitation will be held 1 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Spring interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Bucksport.
