WINTERPORT – Stewart William Dotson Jr., 63, passed away peacefully Dec. 19, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at his home. Stewart was born July 5, 1947, in Racine, W.Va., to Stewart W. Sr. and Clara Alice (Hughes) Dotson. Stewart grew up in West Virginia and graduated from Sherman High School, Seth, W.Va. After serving his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, he then worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in Connecticut for more than 33 years. Stewart then retired and moved to Maine where he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting with his sons. Stewart was a family man who loved to be with and watch his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all. Stewart is survived by his loving wife, Joan E. (Fitzpatrick) Dotson of Winterport, his children; Stewart W. Dotson and wife, Veronica, of Naugatuck, Conn., Jonathan Dotson and wife, Laura, of Branford, Conn., and Missy Scott and husband, Robert, of Clinton, Conn.; stepchildren, Cindy Esposito and husband, Al, of Hamden, Conn., Melissa Carlson and Tyler of West Haven, Conn., Christina Butler and her fianc?, Justin, of West Haven, Conn., and Nicholas Fitzpatrick of Winterport; grandchildren, Ashley, Rebecca, Evan, Becca, Rachelle, Abby and Tori; brothers, Kermit, Mickey and Raven; a sister, Faye Butcher; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Stewart was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Claude; and sisters, Lula Bradshaw, Betty Butcher, Bertha Burgess and Cookie Morris. Family and friends may visit 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, at Frankfort Congregational Church, Main Street, Frankfort, with Pastor Tim Hall officiating.
