BANGOR, Maine — A mix of sleet and wet snow fell during the late afternoon hours Wednesday and contributed to a rash of minor accidents across eastern Maine.
One vehicle rolled over on Route 1A in Dedham shortly before 5 p.m., which partially contributed to a chain reaction four-vehicle crash on the same road.
Deputies from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department closed down a section of the major route near Lily Road to clean up the mess. Traffic was rerouted on Lily Road, which connects to Route 1A on both ends like a jug handle.
A tractor-trailer jackknifed on Route 9 in Clifton tied up traffic around 5 p.m., but traffic was moving smoothly an hour later, according to a Penobscot County dispatcher. Another car rolled over on Howland Road in LaGrange, but the driver was uninjured.
In fact, although numerous accidents were reported, none involved any serious injuries.
