PORTLAND, Maine — A judge has denied a Standish woman’s appeal seeking a new trial following her conviction for trying to kill her husband by attacking him in his sleep with a baseball bat.
Cumberland County District Attorney Stephanie Anderson said Wednesday that Justice Joyce Wheeler has denied Linda Dolloff’s appeal of her attempted murder conviction. A jury in May found that Dolloff beat her husband with a bat on April 12, 2009, and then shot herself to make the attack look like a home invasion.
Wheeler rejected Dolloff’s claims that there was insufficient evidence to support a conviction and that she didn’t get a fair and impartial trial.
Dolloff faces up to 30 years in prison when she is sentenced Jan. 7.
