FRANKFORT – Winifred Grace Grendell, 77, passed away peacefully Dec. 19, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. Winifred was born Nov. 9, 1933, in Bangor, to Earl P. and Doris M. (Eastman) Grendell. Winnie had a wonderful outlook on life and had a special place in her heart for each and every holiday. She looked forward to trips to Santa’s Village and Story Land, as well as a yearly trip to the Blue Hill Fair with her nephew, Earl, to watch horse and oxen pulling. Winnie enjoyed singing, coloring and playing all sorts of games with her great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews including Yahtzee, checkers, card games and bingo. Winnie is survived by her nephews, Earl Anderson and wife, Sandra, of Frankfort, who were her caregivers for the past 13 years, and Gerald Anderson and wife, Kelley; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews who were very special to her. Winnie was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Olena (Grendell) Anderson and Shirley (Grendell) Kruger; and one brother, Wolfred Grendell. Family and friends may visit 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, with Pastor Tim Hall officiating.
