MARSHFIELD – Edna Hatt, 75, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, in Machias. She was born in Machiasport, daughter of the late Victor and Clara (Colbeth) Pettegrow. Edna attended schools in Machiasport and married Irving Hatt, in 1955. She resided most of her life in Connecticut, where she worked for Backes Fireworks Factory. She retired back to Maine with her husband in 1994. Edna loved shopping and doing word search puzzles. She was known for having a clean house, being a great cook and a caring person who loved her family. She is survived by one son, Michael Hatt and his wife, Tabitha; two daughters, Paula Alley and her husband, Kendall, and Pamela Hatt Blank of Connecticut; three sisters, Edith Babb of New Jersey, Jeanie Caler of East Machias, and Judith Nutter and her husband, Robert, also of East Machias; 10 grandchildren, Darrell W. Blank III, Ryan, Jennifer and Jeffery Blank, Michael Hatt Jr., Merrill Johnson II, Lazarus Johnson, Kaylee Alley, Kristen Schlaefer and Michael Parden; and a great-granddaughter, Ashra Schlaefer. Services will be held 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 220 Court St., Machias. Burial will be afterward at Longfellow Cemetery, Machias.
