ST. AGATHA – Roger J. Chamberland, 79, died peacefully Dec. 27, 2010, at Ridgewood Estates, Madawaska. He was born Dec. 4, 1931, in St. Agatha, the son of Belone and Marie “Marquis” Chamberland. Roger was a farmer for many years and worked at Fraser Paper until retirement. He was a Korean War veteran and member of American Legion Post 145, Frenchville; Knights of Columbus Local No. 7920; and Catholic Order of Foresters. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bertille “Hebert” Chamberland of St. Agatha; two sons, Daniel and wife, Leah, of Terryville, Conn., and granddaughter, Beth and husband, Dr. Sean Landrette, and grandson, Scott, and Pierre and wife, Donna, of St. Agatha and granddaughter, Kristen and husband, Joe Merrill, and grandson, Shane; three daughters, Denise Bouchard of St. Agatha and two grandsons, Eric and wife, Erin, and Craig, Kim Marquis and husband, Rene, of St. David and granddaughter, Monique and husband, Shawn Hebert, and granddaughter, Andrea, and Louise Chamberland of Frenchville and friend, Jason Thibeault; three sisters, Therese Chasse and Rena Lizotte, both of Madawaska, and Rita St. Amant of Glastonbury, Conn. He was predeceased by his parents; five brothers, Armand, Conrad, Louis, Warren and Abel; and three sisters, Annie Albert, Mathilda Ouellette and Lucina Plourde. Friends and relatives may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, and 8:30 a.m. until the time of services Friday at Michaud Funeral Home, St. Agatha. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at St. Agatha Catholic Church with the Rev. Phil Cyr officiating. Burial at St. Agatha Lower Cemetery in the spring. Donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
