AUGUSTA, Maine — Six candidates have lined up for the Maine Democratic Party’s chairmanship, which will be decided Jan. 23.
They include Topsham lawyer Ben Grant, party Vice Chairwoman Marianne Stevens, Stephanie Clifford, John Hanson, Bil Moriarty and Melissa Sterry.
Clifford worked as political director for Tom Allen’s Senate campaign in 2008. Hanson is former executive director of the Bureau of Labor Education at the University of Maine. Moriarty is chairman of the Biddeford City Democratic Committee. Sterry is a Kennebec County Democrat.
Maine Attorney General Janet Mills, who soon will be replaced in that office by Republican Bill Schneider, will run for vice chairwoman as a team with Grant.
