JONESBORO – Eva M. (Mahar) Kelley, 89, died Jan. 2, 2011, at a Machias hospital. She was born June 29, 1921, and spent the first 44 years of her life in Lubec, before moving to Pittsford, N.Y., in 1965. She retired from JC Penney Co., in 1979, and spent her retirement years between Jonesboro and Orange City, Fla. She was a longtime member of The Disciples of Christ Church, Lubec, also attending Jonesboro Union Church and Machias Valley Baptist Church. Eva was predeceased by her loving husband, Emerson “Pat”; parents, Eugene and Eva Mahar of Lubec; sister, Lois Laslie; brother, Philip Mahar; and son-in-law, James M. Prout. She is survived by her brother, John Mahar; daughter, Hope Prout; two sons, Eugene Lingley and wife, Jean, and Mark Kelley and wife, Linda Berardi; her grandchildren, Debra Sternbergh, Traci Sanborn, Troy Prout, Brad Prout, Darren Prout, Bethany Prout-Foss, Brad Lingley, Deeana Walker, Brynn Kelley and Mariah Kelley; stepgrandchildren, James Jerkins and Kelly Bradley; special caregiver, Jennifer Peavey; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
