CORNVILLE – Olive Foster, 88, passed away Jan. 3, 2011, surrounded by family at her home. Olive was born Feb. 21, 1922, in Athens, to Clara (Isaacson) Lancaster and Leon Lancaster. She graduated from Somerset Academy in 1940. On Dec. 28, 1941, she married Linwood M. Foster and began her life as a homemaker on their dairy farm in Cornville, where they sold milk, maple syrup and hay. Olive was a lifelong member of North Cornville Ladies Aid Society, as well as a Somerset Academy Trustee for many years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling and gathering with family and friends. Olive was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Linwood Foster; brother, Kenneth Lancaster; sisters, Doris Hartley, Marion Ricker, Althea Savage and Elizabeth Cobb; and son-in-law, Richard Perkins Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Perkins; grandchildren, Laurie, Pamela and Richard; great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Chelsie and Lindsey; great-great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Taivon, Angelina and Colton; brother, Raymond Lancaster and his wife, Emerald; as well as many special cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The family extends a special thank you to the hospice aides and nurses for taking such good care of Olive and us. She was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her, and she will be sadly missed by her family, friends and neighbors. Viewing hours will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at Smart and Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan. A funeral and burial service will be held in the spring at the discretion of the family.
