I’m the god of misplaced confidence
Purveyor of false competence
I whisper to assure sky divers
I give courage to rock climbers
I build philosophies on lies
And trick the honest seeker’s eyes
I ensure misunderstanding
And over-optimistic planning
I make cops misinterpret clues
And have reporters misconstrue the news
I hide the facts that you don’t know
And tell you ones that aren’t so
I weave the veil of self-deception
I point you in the wrong direction
I change the scene and shift perspective
I make the scientific subjective
For liars I provide whole cloth
I misapply the judge’s oath
Wrong and false, or right and true
All depends on point of view
