NEWPORT, Maine — A Newport man was arrested early Sunday after being accused of assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
Ricky Lawler, 36, was arrested at about 12:20 a.m. Sunday after both of the girl’s parents called police separately, according to Newport Police Department Lt. Randy Wing.
“We determined that he physically grabbed a 12-year-old juvenile by the arms and squeezed pretty hard,” said Wing. “She broke away and ran up to another apartment.”
Wing said Lawler was dating the girl’s mother.
“We got a complaint from the father,” said Wing. “Once the mother learned about the assault, she called as well.”
