AUGUSTA, Maine — A former Kennebc County jail guard will begin serving a 21-day sentence this month following his guilty plea for having unlawful sexual contact with a female Maine inmate.
The Kennebec Journal reported Friday that 23-year-old Jeffrey Allan Whittaker pleaded guilty and was sentenced this week.
Jail officials said Whittaker was a probationary employee and had been on the job less than four months when the incident took place last June.
