CALAIS – Nancy Arlene Maxwell, 81, passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at Atlantic Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. Nancy was born April 23, 1929, in Calais, daughter of the late Nathan and Elva (Parkman) Clement. She was a professional colorist at her sister’s studio, Harvey Studio, and was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. Nancy and her husband, Cleve, enjoyed seasonal wreath making and harvesting evergreens in the fall. She was a member of St. Croix Garden Club and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, and kept small livestock for a number of years. Nancy enjoyed her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Her favorite activities involved horseback riding in her youth and camping in her senior years. In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Cleveland Maxwell; daughter, Linda Nancy Maxwell; four sisters, Elsie, Olive, Elva and Sabrina; and a brother, Franklin Clement. She is survived by her three children, Franklin H. Maxwell and his life partner, Shelly MacDougall, of Alexander, Patricia A. Wood and her husband, Stephen, of Exeter, N.H., and Wayne N. Maxwell and his wife, Valerie, of Somersworth, N.H.; five grandchildren, Nathan Maxwell and his wife, Melissa, of Alexander, Scott Wood and his fianc?e, Melissa Brady, of Portsmouth, N.H., Alyson Wood of Harrisonburg, Va., Benjamin Maxwell and Heather Maxwell, both of Somersworth, N.H.; and a great-granddaughter, Prue Maxwell of Alexander.
