WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Mary Freese Gavan, 84, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011. She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Schulman of Boston; and her parents, Josephine and F. Drummond Freese of Bangor. Mrs. Gavan is survived by her husband of 55 years, William Thomas Gavan; six children, Kathleen Gavan of Alexandria, Va., Thomas Gavan and his fianc?e, Patricia Rodgers, of Edgewater, Md., Mark Gavan of Hampton, Va., Lawrence Gavan of Richmond, Va., James Gavan and his wife, Miriam Nasuti, of Leesburg, Va., and Gregory Gavan of Fredericksburg, Va.; four grandchildren, Daniel, Juanita, Dominic and Connor; and a brother, A. Langdon Freese of Boise, Idaho. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, Va. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, Va.
