AUGUSTA – Priscilla P. Devereaux, 90, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at Augusta Rehabilitation and Nursing Care. She was born Dec. 6, 1920, in New-port, daughter of George and Florice (Larrabee) Plummer.
Priscilla was a graduate of Newport High School and Eastern Teachers College, Castine. She taught school in Garland and Dexter. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Hallowell, where she served as secretary of Sunday school and treasurer of the Martha Circle. Priscilla volunteered with the Christian Civic League and the Hospital Chaplaincy Service, Hampden. She enjoyed crochet-ing, tending to her flower garden and being with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Wilton Devereaux; a brother, Robert Plummer; and a sister, Doris H. Towle. Priscilla is survived by a son, David E. Devereaux and his wife, Elaine, of Oakland; a daughter, Mary L. Dearborn and her husband, Alan, of Sinclair; her grandson, Timothy L. Dearborn and his wife, Cynthia, of Stockton, Calif.; four granddaughters, Jessica Devereaux of Florida, Ashley E. Devereaux of Gardiner, Brittany M. Devereaux and Brooke T. Devereaux, both of Oakland; two great-grandchildren, Mirielle and Sinjon of Stockton, Calif.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday.
