BELFAST – Ruby M. (Mulligian) Hills, 92, passed away Jan. 25, 2011, at Maine Veterans Home, Augusta. She was born Dec. 19, 1918, in Berlin, N.H., a daughter of James and Frances (McKinley) Milligian. Ruby served as a nurse in the U.S. Army during World War II receiving two Bronze Stars in honor of her service. She was the Belfast public health nurse for Waldo County for many years. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Maine Hills Jr.; her oldest son, Maine Hills III; and her son-in-law, Capt. Galen Howes. Survivors include her children, Capt. John Hills and fiancee, Carole Albee, of Portland, Peter Hills of Waldo, Parker Hills of Belfast and Ellen Howes of Arundel; and two grandchildren, Isaac and his wife, Angela Howes, and Geneva Howes and fiance, Matthew Kantor. Family and friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Dr. Kate Winters officiating.
