GUILFORD – Edwin Thomas Edes, 79, died Feb. 2, 2011, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home.
He was born June 7, 1931, in Guilford, son of William and Edith (Wilkinson) Edes.
He graduated from Guilford High School, Class of 1949. Ed served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and then worked for the telephone company for more than 32 years. He was a member of Conner-Trafton American Legion Post, Guilford, for many years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Avis (Burgess) Edes; and a daughter, Anine Burgess. He is survived by his children, Thomas Edes and his wife, Laurie, of Glenburn, Karine “Kitty” Downs and her husband, Gary, of East Dover, William Edes and his companion, Maureen Trefethen, and family of Monson; a daughter-in-law, Doris Edes of Eastbrook, and Robert Edes and his wife, Marnie, of East Dover; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held in the spring at Guilford Center Cemetery with a celebration of his life afterward at the river.
