HOULTON – Emma E. Sanders, 100, died Feb. 4, 2011, at a local health care facility. She was born Jan. 16, 1911, in Hodgdon, daughter of James and Alta (Outhouse) Bither.

Emma attended Ricker Classical Institute and was a member of Houlton United Methodist Church and Rachel Circle. She was also a member of Houlton Grange and Town & Country Senior Citizens.

Emma is survived by her daughter, Jean (Estabrook) Thompson of Houlton; two grandchildren, Audbur Thompson and his wife, Ann, of Connecticut and Douglas Thompson of Houlton; three great-grandchildren, Richard and his wife, Carola, of New Jersey, Micah and his wife, Jen, of Connecticut, Elizabeth Dolham and her husband, Scott, of Massachusetts; one great-great-granddaughter, Emma Marie Thompson; her daughter-in-law, Lillian Sanders of Linneus; several nieces and nephews; two stepdaughters, Gladys Hand and Eleanor Phillimore; several stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel; her son, Harold Libby; her great-granddaughter, Lydia Thompson; brothers, Merle, Waldo and Charles Bither; and sisters, Mildred Carlisle, Hazel Emanuel, Dorothy Jenkins and Janice Nevers.

Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of service 11 a.m. Monday at Dunn Funeral Home with the Rev. Randall Burns and the Rev. Naomi Sam’Kpakra officiating.
