GUILFORD – Lawrence “Pete” R. Priest, 77, died Feb. 4, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 14, 1933, in Guilford, son of Earl and Erma (Herring) Priest.

He graduated from Guilford High School and then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After the service Pete worked for more than 40 years at Guilford Industries. He also owned and operated J. & J. Hardware, Monson, for several years. He was a member of Stott Flanders American Legion Post, Sangerville.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne (Albee) Priest of Guilford; his first wife and mother of his children, Florence (Gourley) Priest Harrington of Sangerville; his children, Jerilyn and her husband, Timothy Levensailor, of Sangerville, Terry Priest and his companion, Melissa, of Guilford, Lori Welch and her husband, Barry, of Newport, Peter Priest and his wife, Michelle, of Sangerville and Chris Priest of Sangerville; stepchildren, Christine McKenney of Guilford, Randy Rollins of Sebec, Rusty Rollins of Ellsworth, Jeanne Knowles and her husband, Mickey, of Abbot and Joan Pulkkinen and her husband, Craig, of Jonesport; stepdaughter-in-law, Dianne Rollins of Abbot; a brother, Wilfred Priest and his wife, Lee, of Guilford; a sister, Diane Leighton and her husband, David, of Dover-Foxcroft; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a stepson, Kenneth “Chuck” Rollins.

Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Guilford United Methodist Church with Pastor Stephen Dean officiating. Spring burial will be at Blanchard Cemetery, Abbot.
