HOULTON and CAPE ELIZABETH – John G. Garibotto, 90, died Feb. 10, 2011, in Houlton. He was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Medford, Mass., the son of John S. and Celeste (Govanani) Garibotto.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in France during World War II, where he received a Purple Heart.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara (Weagle) Garibotto of Houlton; three children, John J. Garibotto and his wife, Debra, of Houlton, Ronald Garibotto and his wife, Katharine, of Ramona, Calif., and Susan Magoon and her husband, Norman, of North Yarmouth; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Gallagher of Scarborough. He was predeceased by his parents; and a grandson, Ethan L. Magoon.

Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. with Deacon Al Burleigh officiating. Spring interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. For an online memory book and to send condolences, please visit
